Cochlear implantation with minimally invasive surgery round window

Traditional cochlear implant surgery requires a cochlear window and then implantation of cochlear implant electrodes. In recent years, improvements in cochlear electrode design have made the electrodes very flexible, making it possible to implant electrodes through the round window of the cochlea. Beijing Tongren Hospital was one of the first hospitals in China to perform cochlear implantation with a round window, and has accumulated a wealth of experience in this procedure. The advantages of cochlear implantation with a round window: 1. No window is opened in the cochlea, which protects the structure of the cochlea from being changed and the cochlea from being destroyed, making it possible for patients to enjoy future technologies, such as drug therapy and cellular gene therapy. 2.Electrode implantation from the round window, no need to drill and polish the cochlea, avoiding the noise of the drill to re-injure one’s own hearing. 3.Using medication around the round window before implanting the cochlear electrodes to avoid damage to the cochlear lining and preserve residual hearing. 4.Use special electrodes, such as soft electrodes, fine electrodes, EAS electrodes, etc., to perform soft technique implantation without damaging the residual cochlear hearing. 5. Round window cochlear implantation electrodes also ensure that the electrodes are accurately implanted in the cochlea, allowing for better post-operative hearing recovery. During and after the cochlear implantation, appropriate medication should be used to preserve the residual hearing. It is very important to use the appropriate medications during and after the surgery to preserve the residual hearing.
