How long it takes to recover from a wrist ligament injury

Wrist ligament strains can be recovered in 1-3 weeks, and if a ligament rupture occurs it can take up to 3 months to fully repair. The recovery time of ligament injury is related to the degree of ligament injury and treatment. After a mild ligament strain, you need to go to the hospital promptly, and if necessary, do X-ray, MRI and other examinations, except for wrist fracture or wrist dislocation. After the diagnosis is confirmed, the wrist joint should be fixed in plaster or brace, and oral or topical medications such as ibuprofen, celecoxib, fotalin ointment, as well as traditional Chinese medicine to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis to relieve pain and promote wound healing, and the wound will basically heal after 1-3 weeks. In case of ligament rupture, the ruptured ligament needs to be repaired and fixed for 4-6 weeks through surgery, and it takes more than 3 months to heal completely. Ligament injury should be reviewed regularly in the hospital and adjusted in time if external fixation is found to be loose.
