It is not clear whether there is a direct transformational relationship between thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, so there is no way to assess the exact time of progression. Especially in cystic nodules, the possibility of malignant transformation is low. However, for nodules that are hypoechoic on ultrasound, regular follow-up should be performed. If the nodule shows indistinct borders, irregular shape, aspect ratio greater than 1, or rapid increase in size within a short period of time, we may consider perfecting thyroid aspiration to see the exact nature of the nodule.
