Why cough after nebulization

It is common to encounter clinical symptoms of coughing after nebulizer inhalation treatment or aggravation of the original cough level, which can be caused by many reasons. First of all, the most common is the large particles of nebulized inhalation drugs or the strong irritation of drugs, which can stimulate the pharynx and trachea and bronchi, and in serious cases, bronchospasm can occur and manifest as cough aggravation. Secondly, the patient’s own airway is hyperreactive, and when the temperature difference between the nebulized inhaled aerosol and the aerosol is too low, it can induce an aggravation of his or her cough. Then, nebulization makes the patient’s mucus sputum thinner and easier to cough up, and the patient coughs and coughs more than before. Finally, a rare cause is allergy to the nebulizing solution manifested as cough aggravation. Therefore, drugs with strong airway irritation during nebulized inhalation should not be nebulized, and patients whose airways are hyperreactive, such as bronchial asthma and cough after infection, should actively take appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures during nebulization to avoid adverse consequences.
