What is the difference between a flat foot and a clubfoot?

The difference between flat feet and hallux valgus mainly lies in the formation causes and clinical manifestations.
1. Causes: The formation of flat feet is mainly due to congenital or acquired factors leading to soft tissue insufficiency in the ankle area or local bone deformity, which can not maintain the normal physiological curvature of the foot arch, causing the collapse of the foot arch; whereas, most of the foot exostosis is due to the damage to the upper motor neuron or acquired imbalance of the muscle power of the inner and outer ankle, and other reasons.
2. Clinical manifestations: the vast majority of flat feet do not have obvious symptoms, a small number of patients can be manifested as the pain and swelling of the inner arch of the foot, and physical examination can see that the longitudinal arch of the patient’s foot is flattened or disappeared; while patients with hallux valgus will have more obvious hallux valgus manifestations of the outer ankle, and the Achilles bone can have compensatory outward movement, and it may even cause the talus bone to be subluxed and other manifestations.
