Should Targeted Drugs Be Continued After Lung Cancer Tumors Disappear?

After the application of targeted therapy for advanced lung cancer, the tumor disappears and the targeted drug should be continued. Lung cancer undergoes targeted therapy, most of which are in advanced stages, and the results are relatively good, which can achieve complete remission and tumor disappearance on imaging. The disappearance of the tumor on imaging does not mean that all cancer cells have been killed, because imaging cannot be evaluated for very small lesions. Therefore, even if the tumor disappears, for advanced lung cancer, targeted therapy should be adhered to, to prolong as much as possible the time when the disease appears to progress. After the tumor disappears with targeted therapy, patients need to be rechecked on time, and should consider changing the treatment plan once new lesions appear, suggesting the development of targeted drug resistance.
