Can you take a bath with a fracture?

Generally speaking, you can take a bath if it is not an open fracture or after fracture surgery. When bathing, care must be taken to protect the local limb. Since a cast is often used for braking during a fracture, the cast should not be removed while bathing. If the cast is removed, the braking of the fracture will be lost and it will cause displacement of the fracture site. It can be tied tightly with plastic film or plastic bag to avoid water entering the cast. Be careful when taking a shower and elevate the limb to avoid getting the cast wet. If the cast gets wet, be sure to go to the hospital for early cast replacement. Bathing is prohibited after open fracture or fracture surgery; if you bathe during this period, it may easily cause infection of the incision.
