How to lower LDL cholesterol

The normal level of LDL cholesterol is below 3.4 mmol/L (130 mg/dl). If LDL is found to be higher than normal in healthy individuals, dietary treatment, lifestyle improvement interventions and medication are needed to lower LDL cholesterol. 1. Healthy diet Limit the intake of foods rich in saturated fatty acids and trans fatty acids (such as butter, cream, lard, etc.) and try to replace them with unsaturated fatty acids (such as deep-sea fish, fish oil, vegetable oil). Choose foods that can lower low-density cholesterol, such as increasing the intake of soluble fiber and eating more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. 2.Lifestyle intervention Patients should increase regular physical activity. At least 5 days a week at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise. Reducing weight in obese patients can help reduce LDL levels. Smoking should be completely stopped or secondhand smoke inhalation should be minimized. 3, drug treatment If lifestyle interventions are not effective, then should consider receiving drug treatment. Statins are the basis of treatment, and drug combination therapy should be considered for patients who are statin intolerant or whose cholesterol levels do not meet the standard. It should be noted that medications must be taken or adjusted under medical supervision and that adverse reactions during treatment should be closely monitored.
