A rib fracture can be painful. A rib fracture can cause severe pain in the chest wall, and the pain can be like a tearing pain or a pins-and-needles pain. In the event of a rib fracture, the rib is usually immobilized using a chest strap or rib band, which reduces displacement and micromovement of the broken end of the rib and can significantly reduce the pain caused by the fracture. The duration of immobilization is usually about one month, and the rib band can be removed in one month for functional exercise of the degree of thoracic expansion. If the pain is significant at the time of rib fracture, active symptomatic treatment is possible. Conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as celecoxib capsules, meloxicam tablets, hanfangjiaosu tablets, diclofenac sodium tablets, and loxoprofen sodium tablets, can be used to relieve pain and eliminate sterile inflammation, as well as ointments such as blood-activating and pain-relieving ointment and compound chasing ointment applied topically to relieve pain and inflammation.
