When a rib fracture occurs, it may affect the fracture end when getting up because the back, abdomen, and thorax must be strained when getting up. When the thorax is strained, the fracture end will also be irritated due to the contraction of the entire thoracic muscles, resulting in micro-movement of the fracture, which can lead to increased pain of the fracture or painful episodes when there was no pain. Therefore, it is recommended that when you need to get up and move around after a rib fracture, you must use a rib fixation belt or chest strap before you get up. It is also advisable to get someone else to support your back to get up to avoid affecting the fracture.
