How to treat a fractured rib on the right side

If a rib fracture causes a hemothorax or pneumothorax, a closed chest drainage should be performed, and the vital signs should be monitored at all times, oxygen saturation should be monitored, antibiotics should be applied symptomatically to prevent pulmonary infection, blood pressure and blood count should be observed at all times, and blood transfusion may be given if necessary. If the rib fracture does not result in a hemopneumothorax, the main treatment principle for these patients is to reduce the pain caused by the fracture by taking oral or sedative blood-activating drugs. In case of multiple fractures, a rib fixation belt can be worn to protect the fracture ends, and the patient is advised to rest in a supine position with minimal turning to avoid discomfort due to improper position, resulting in pressure and pain on the fracture site. During this period, oral Chinese medicines can also be taken to promote fracture healing, such as Bone Health Capsules, Henggu Bone Healing Agent, Golden Bone Lotus Capsules, and Bone Extension Capsules.
