Talking about ingrown nails

Ingrown toenail is a common hand and foot surgical disorder that occurs most often in the bunion. Most of the causes are due to the edge of the nail trimmed too deep, too low, plus wear pointed, skinny shoes squeeze toe, cause ingrown nail and trauma, pulling barbs, manicure too short, gray nail and so on. In the early stages of ingrown nail is only painful, when the ingrown nail is complicated by infection of the nail groove tissue clinically known as nail groove inflammation, at this time, there is obvious local redness, swelling, heat, and accompanied by severe pain, pus, local purulent discharge out, repeated infection can stimulate the local nail groove tissue hyperplasia, patients feel severe pain walking, seriously affecting normal work and life. At present, there are more misconceptions about the treatment of ingrown nails: misconception one: pedicure treatment of ingrown nails: people suffering from ingrown nails, most of them trimmed at home by themselves, good conditions to find some pedicure places to trim, the above two practices are to bear the pain of the part of the toenail sticking to the flesh to pick out, and so on toenail long or sticking to the flesh. Due to repeated trimming, chronic stimulation of nail tissue hyperplasia, hypertrophy, toenail more easily to the flesh to grow. Misconception two: repeated nail pulling treatment: other patients, when complications into nail fungus, will go to the hospital, most of the hospital’s routine practice is to carry out nail pulling surgery to treat ingrown nails, the nail root hair layer does not do any treatment, so that the growth of new toenails, still along the original direction of growth, and eventually grow into the flesh. This method is painful, takes a long time to heal, and most importantly, does not cure ingrown nails. For early onset nail without infection, you can pry up the edge of the ingrown nail and trim it after washing your feet in hot water, then iodophor cotton gauze pads, which will release the pressure on the soft tissue and guide the toenail to grow in the normal direction. If inflammation occurs and treatment by this method is ineffective, surgical treatment can be performed after infection control. The current effective treatment is to perform a partial excision of the nail plus nail bed shaping, which involves removing a small strip of the edge of the toenail under toe nerve block anesthesia, and then treating the root layer so that no new toenail grows on the edge of the nail to completely cure the ingrown nail. This procedure is characterized by short operation time, quick recovery, minimal trauma, and little post-operative pain for the patient. There are four main ways to prevent ingrown toenails: 1. Develop good toenail cutting habits and trim your toenails to a flat and straight shape instead of a rounded shape. 2, choose relatively loose shoes, so that the toes in the shoes have a certain space to move. 3, develop good hygiene habits, timely removal of dirt in the toenail groove, keep the toenail clean. 4.Once there is an ingrown nail and other podiatric diseases, promptly seek treatment from a hand and foot surgeon and strive for a complete cure.
