Can rectal cancer be cured?

A significant proportion of rectal cancer patients can be cured through standardized and reasonable treatment. About half of rectal cancer patients can be cured through active treatment, especially early and mid-stage rectal cancer, and timely surgery, the cure rate is higher and may reach 80 – 90%. Rectal adenocarcinoma is one of the malignant tumors of the digestive system with the highest treatment effect. Even some patients with mid- to late-stage rectal adenocarcinoma have the possibility to be cured through active and reasonable treatment. Of course, rectal adenocarcinoma is a malignant tumor after all, and some patients with advanced stage may be difficult to be cured, but they can improve their quality of life and prolong their life through treatment. Therefore, in order to improve the survival period, it is recommended that once diagnosed, patients should go to professional medical institutions in time for early radical surgical treatment. The more common ways are local excision, i.e. transanal local excision, post-sacral access local excision, etc. If pathological examination results suggest lymph node metastasis, etc., they can be assisted with comprehensive treatment such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In life, change the bad habits, more dietary fiber intake, avoid smoking, drinking, staying up late, etc., properly participate in physical exercise, eliminate obesity, and enhance their resistance.
