Fear can also scare people to death

I have been very busy these past two days. A patient who has been under my care for more than 3 years suddenly went into a coma, leaving me puzzled. Because the results of the review a week ago were still very good. I remember that when this patient came to me 3 years ago, she was already very heavy, and I thought of many ways, including discussions with top experts from abroad, to bring her condition under control after a few weeks. At the end of this treatment, she had a little back pain, so she was fully evaluated with PET, and the result showed that the tumor basically disappeared. However, her lover called me during the Dragon Boat Festival and said that she could not eat or drink, and she suddenly passed out, so much so that I rushed to the hospital on Saturday to work overtime to rescue her. The patient was indeed in a coma, and the examination found that the tumor had not metastasized, but her electrolytes were highly disturbed, with low sodium and low chloride. The reason for this was that her lover had been busy at work in recent days and forgot to tell the patient that she was in a good condition. Thanks to timely resuscitation. When I left work today, she was basically awake, which really calmed my hanging heart. I was touched by this incident, many patients start to live in a high level of fear, the doctor’s words and actions, family care are as important as drugs, we should give more humanistic care to patients at the same time of treatment, patients are first of all people, a person with feelings, not just as a sick object. At the same time, I also suggest that patients should adjust their mindset, as long as the doctor says it is fine, do not “think about the future” all day long, to contact more society, adjust their mindset, and try to achieve “I am a normal person”.
