Interventional treatment of unruptured ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy in which the gestational sac is deposited in a place other than the uterine cavity, also known as ectopic pregnancy, preferably in the fallopian tube area, with the increasing size of the gestational sac, eventually leading to rupture and hemorrhage, which is a serious threat to the patient’s life. In recent years, with the popularization of screening methods and the improvement of people’s health knowledge, many patients have been able to diagnose the disease before hemorrhage occurs. Most of these patients are treated conservatively with intramuscular methotrexate, which is a simple method with a low success rate. In addition, hemorrhage may still occur in the course of conservative treatment, and the patient has to be referred to emergency surgery because of unsuccessful conservative treatment. The principle of interventional therapy for unruptured ectopic pregnancy: by selecting the catheter to the blood supplying artery of the ectopic pregnancy sac and infusing methotrexate, the concentration of the drug can be greatly increased, and at the same time the blood supplying artery will be blocked, which can avoid the possibility of hemorrhage caused by the conservative process, and the blockage of the blood supplying artery can also further enhance the success rate of the conservative therapy, so interventional therapy is the most safe and effective method of the conservative treatment of the disease at present.
