How long does it usually take to heal from a broken foot?

A broken foot is also commonly referred to as an ankle sprain. For minor ankle sprains, the sprain can generally heal in 3-4 weeks. If the condition is more serious, the recovery time may be extended, depending on the condition. After a minor ankle sprain, the local area will be swollen and painful due to the rupture of capillaries, and the activity will be limited and difficult to walk. Patients can take ice to reduce swelling and pain, and go to the hospital promptly for treatment and, if necessary, take X-rays to rule out ankle fractures. If the swelling is obvious, external fixation with plaster or brace can be used locally, the fixation time is usually 2-3 weeks, after the swelling and pain subsides, the fixation can be removed and the patient can gradually resume walking. If there is a combination of fracture or other ligament damage, the recovery time may have to be extended, and in most cases it will take at least 12 weeks to fully recover, and some patients may need six months or even longer. In conclusion, ankle sprains can be mild or severe, and the correct treatment should be to seek medical attention promptly after the injury to avoid delayed treatment due to missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, which may lead to serious complications.
