Ankle sprains are the most common sports injuries and can result in injury or rupture of ligaments around the ankle joint, fracture dislocation, articular cartilage damage, tendon damage or rupture, etc. Treatment of ankle sprains in the acute phase consists mainly of: i.e., rest, ice, compression bandage, and elevation of the affected limb. If the ankle joint is obviously unstable and the anterior talofibular ligament and the calcaneofibular ligament are ruptured, surgery is required, even if a fracture has been ruled out. This is especially important for sports enthusiasts.
