Cough, runny nose and fever are mostly due to infection with virus or bacteria, causing symptoms of acute upper respiratory tract infection. Cough, runny nose and chills are mostly considered to be wind-cold colds, while cough, runny nose, dry throat and sore throat are mostly caused by wind-heat colds, which can be identified by the use of traditional Chinese medicine. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, oral antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as ibuprofen and nimesulide are recommended to help reduce fever by sweating. If the body temperature is below 38.5℃, physical cooling can be done by using warm water baths and applying antipyretic patches.
