Coughing and leaking is stress urinary incontinence, stress urinary incontinence is a non-fatal disease, mainly affecting the quality of life of patients, the main means of treatment is surgery, for two reasons: First, there is no long-term effective and curative drug treatment for stress urinary incontinence. The second is that current stress urinary incontinence surgery is minimally invasive and highly effective. Since the disease mainly affects the patient’s quality of life, the decision to operate depends in most cases on the patient’s wishes. The surgery is performed mainly through a vaginal incision (about 1.5 cm), punctured and a sling is left in place under the urethra. The procedure is minimal and takes about 15-20 minutes. Three days after the operation, you can go about your daily activities (including going to work). For three months after the operation, you should not engage in heavy physical activities, such as playing ball games or splits, which may cause the sling to loosen. After three months, the sling and the tissues are completely fused and you can resume any activities you had before surgery. The cost of the surgery depends on the type of sling. The traditional sling is TVT-O, with disposable consumables costing 6,000 RMB, 70% reimbursed by medical insurance, and all other costs reimbursed by medical insurance, with a total cost of about 11,000 RMB (including the total cost of consumables for the sling of 6,000 RMB); the new type of sling is called TVT-A, with disposable consumables costing 9,600 RMB, also 70% reimbursed by medical insurance, and the efficacy of both types of surgery is basically the same. The new type of sling has no postoperative leg pain because it does not remain at the root of the thigh, while the former has pain at the root of the thigh in most patients within 3 weeks after surgery, and very few patients have leg pain that lasts for several months.
