How to properly retain specimens

  I. How to keep sputum specimen correctly Before keeping sputum, please rinse your mouth with water several times to remove food residue and some miscellaneous bacteria in the mouth, take several deep breaths, cough out deep sputum with force, spit 2-3 mouthfuls of sputum in the designated sputum specimen box, cover the bottle tightly immediately and send it to the designated storage place before 8:00 am. If no sputum is present, nebulization therapy can be used to promote sputum removal.  Note: Proper sputum retention by the patient will improve the quality of the sputum specimen and increase the detection rate.  Please do not spit saliva or snot into the sputum specimen box; please do not pour out any liquid in the special specimen box.  How to keep urine specimens properly Keep the first urine in the morning and take the middle urine to avoid mixing with other substances. Avoid keeping specimens during women’s menstrual period.  Third, how to properly retain stool specimens Retain specimens in the morning, use a small stick in the lid of the specimen box to take an appropriate amount of stool, diarrhea patients to take specimens containing mucus or pus sent for examination.
