Final disinfection should be performed after the patient leaves. Final disinfection in the patient’s home includes: living room floors, walls, furniture countertops such as tables and chairs, door handles, patient dining utensils, household items such as clothing and bedding, toys, bathrooms, etc. Final disinfection is usually done by professionals, which can be done by contacting the local Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Other family members are close contacts and should be placed under medical observation for 14 days. While under medical observation, garbage should be disposed of centrally and marked with special markings. Family members should be disinfected regularly after terminal disinfection.
