How long it takes to walk normally after patella fracture surgery depends mainly on the patient’s age, physical condition, and the severity of the fracture. In the case of minor and mild patella fractures, the patient is young and in good physical condition, and after systematic rehabilitation and functional exercise, he or she can generally walk on crutches in about 4-6 weeks after surgery. In about 10-12 weeks after surgery, most patients can take off the crutches and walk with full weight. In the case of elderly people with osteoporosis or patients with more serious patella fracture injury, the time for weight-bearing walking is relatively longer.
