Pharyngitis, which belongs to the category of laryngeal paralysis in Chinese medicine, is a common laryngeal disease, with pain in the pharynx as its main symptom, but the disease often involves the trachea, therefore, cough is also its main clinical manifestations, the use of Chinese medicine to identify the type of treatment, often to achieve good results. 1. Wind-heat: Symptoms include redness, swelling and pain in the pharynx, unfavorable swallowing, cough, yellow and thick sputum, accompanied by fever, chills, red tongue, thin yellow coating, and floating pulse. The lymphatic follicles in the posterior wall of the pharynx are red and swollen, and yellowish-white exudates appear in the center of the swollen lymphatic follicles. Treatment: Drain the wind and clear heat, relieve coughing. 2. Wind-cold: The symptoms include slight soreness in the throat, dysphagia, white cough and sputum, with a cold headache, light red tongue, thin white fur, and floating and tight pulse. Lymphatic follicles in the posterior pharyngeal wall are swollen and slightly red. Treatment: Dispersing wind and cold, relieving cough by toning the throat. 3, phlegm-damp: Patients with obesity or long-term fatty, sweet and thick food, often feel that the pharynx is not conducive to swallowing, such as phlegm, cough phlegm white sticky, light red tongue, fat tongue, white thick and greasy moss, smooth pulse. Follicular hyperplasia of the posterior pharyngeal wall and mucous membrane hypertrophy. Treatment: To resolve dampness and dispel phlegm, facilitate pharynx and stop cough. 4. Liver depression: The patient is easily agitated and irritable, often feels discomfort in the pharynx, such as foreign bodies, coughing phlegm difficult to cough out. When coughing hard, it may even cause vomiting, with a dark red tongue, thin white coating and string pulse. The mucous membrane layer of the pharynx is chronically congested, the posterior wall follicles are hyperplastic, the mucus glands are enlarged, and the secretion is hyperactive. Treatment: Dredge the liver and regulate the qi, and relieve coughing. 5. Yin deficiency: The patient is older, often feels discomfort in the pharynx, slightly painful, dry and itchy with burning sensation, often coughing due to pharyngeal itching, easily stimulated to cause nausea, dry vomiting, mostly aggravated at night, red tongue with little coating, fine pulse. During examination, the pharynx is sensitive, easily causing nausea, and the mucosa of the posterior pharyngeal wall is dry or atrophied. Treatment: The patient has been ill for a long time, and the treatment is to nourish Yin and lower fire, and to benefit the pharynx and stop coughing.
