Can children with congenital heart disease travel by plane or ship?

Due to the limitations of local medical conditions and equipment, many children with complex congenital heart disease will travel from all over the country to big cities for medical treatment, but parents often worry whether their children can travel by air or ship. Usually, there are many people around us who experience airsickness and seasickness when they travel by plane or ship. Medically, this phenomenon is called motion sickness. This is mainly related to the vestibular function of the human body (which has a role in maintaining balance), and the vestibular function of children with congenital heart disease is not necessarily impaired. Therefore, for some children with mild conditions and no obvious symptoms, there is no need to worry too much, such as children who are usually prone to motion sickness when riding in a car, they can take some anti-motion sickness and motion sickness medicine before taking a plane or a ship. However, for some children with severe congenital heart disease who usually have hypoxic attacks or recurrent congestive heart failure, a nurse or doctor should accompany them as needed.
