Dysplasia, be alert for congenital heart disease

Recently, several small patients with congenital heart disease were seen consecutively, all of whom had recurrent respiratory infections after birth and were not gaining weight. The youngest was less than 2 months old, 3.5 kg at birth, and less than 3.5 kg at the time of the visit. The other was a little over 6 kg at 1 year of age. The only treatment for children with congenital heart disease like this is early surgery. Otherwise, the child is not only poorly developed, but also has low resistance, often suffers from pneumonia, and is very stubborn. For example, the one-year-old child I mentioned earlier, when he was seen in some hospitals, the doctor told him that he would have to wait until the child was 8 kg before he could have surgery. In fact, for this kind of children, immediate surgery is needed. At present, the age and weight of the child is not restricted in some high level hospitals, as long as it is necessary to operate, it can be treated surgically. In fact, the results after surgery for this kind of children are very obvious. The two-month-old baby I mentioned earlier can be seen to have a significantly rounder face during his hospitalization than before the surgery. One year old or less is a very important period of baby’s development, and if congenital heart disease is not corrected in time, it can seriously affect the baby’s growth and development.
