Second degree enlargement of the tonsils means that the tonsils exceed the tongue-palate arch but not the pharyngeal-palate arch. The etiology is usually chronic inflammation of the tonsils, which causes local edema and hyperplasia. If the tonsils are repeatedly inflamed more than 6 times a year, it means that the tonsils are no longer of any value and can cause other immune-related reactions in the body and participate in other diseases that can easily cause myocarditis, nephritis, and arthritis. The tonsils are still a lesion that can easily lead to a decrease in the body’s immunity and resistance. Once there is an invasion of bacteria and viruses, it can lead to recurrent inflammation of the tonsils, causing fever, sore throat, and tonsils covered with pus moss or pus plugs. In this case, it is best to undergo surgery to remove the tonsils once and for all.
