Knowledge of initial care for hemiplegic patients

Improper initial care of hemiplegic patients can cause abnormal patterns such as upper limb flexor spasm and lower limb extensor spasm, and also cause claw-type hand and foot prolapse deformity, which seriously affects the prognosis of hemiplegia. The following is some knowledge of early placement of good limb position: 1. Early wearing of functional wrist-hand and functional foot and ankle brace to prevent claw-type hand and foot prolapse. 2. Supine position: A bolster is placed under the scapula and upper limb of the affected side, and the fingers are extended and placed flat on the pillow. The wedge pad is placed on the lateral thigh to prevent abduction and external rotation of the lower limb. The cuneiform pad is placed under the knee to maintain extension and slight flexion. 3.Healthy side lying position: The upper limb of the affected side is flexed or extended, and the lower limb is placed in a mildly flexed position on a bolster. 4.Affected side lying position: the upper limb of the affected side is in abduction and extension; the lower limb of the affected side is in mild flexion and flexion position on the bed, the lower limb of the healthy side is placed forward across the affected side on the bolster, and the upper limb of the healthy side is relaxed and placed on the trunk.
