Fever is the most typical clinical manifestation and the first symptom of novel coronavirus pneumonia. The normal body temperature is between 36°C and 37°C, while a fever is present if the axillary temperature exceeds 37.3°C in a calm state. However, fever alone does not determine that the body is infected with novel coronavirus. Fever can be caused by a variety of bacterial, viral, mycoplasma, chlamydia and other infections, so it is important to make a good differential diagnosis while having fever symptoms. If a patient has a history of contact with a virus-infected person before the fever, or has traveled, worked, studied, or lived in a virus-endemic area, he or she should go to a local fever clinic in a timely manner, and once diagnosed, he or she should be promptly isolated for treatment.
