1.What is cervical spondylosis? Cervical spondylosis is a disorder based on degenerative lesions of the cervical spine. Such as cervical instability, nucleus pulposus protrusion, bone spur formation, ligamentous hypertrophy, etc. stimulate or compress the adjacent nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral artery and cervical sympathetic nerve and other tissues, causing a variety of symptoms of the syndrome. 2.What are the manifestations of cervical spondylosis? Its main symptoms are head, neck, shoulder, back, arm pain, neck stiffness and restricted movement. Some of them are accompanied by dizziness, and in severe cases, nausea and vomiting, vertigo and sudden collapse. The upper limbs are weak, the fingers are numb, the skin sensation of the limbs is reduced, and the hands are weak in holding objects. Other patients have weakness in the lower limbs, unstable walking, numbness in the second foot, and a feeling like stepping on cotton when walking. When cervical spondylosis involves sympathetic nerves, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, swelling of the second eye, dryness, inability to open the second eye, tinnitus, ear blockage, loss of balance, tachycardia, panic, tight c feeling in the chest, and some even have symptoms such as gastrointestinal distention. A few people experience loss of control of bowel movements and urination, sexual dysfunction, and even tetraplegia. There are also symptoms such as difficulty in swallowing and pronunciation. 3.How should cervical spondylosis be treated? 1.The treatment of cervical spondylosis is mainly non-surgical treatment. For light cases, good results can be obtained with proper rest, some anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs, supplemented by acupuncture and physiotherapy. To restrict the neck movement, a cervical collar can be worn. Generally the symptoms can be relieved within 2 weeks to 1 month. If the symptoms are still obvious, traction treatment should be performed. Cervical traction is the main means of non-surgical treatment for cervical spondylosis. The purpose of traction is to make the cervical space get pulled apart and reduce the compression effect played by protrusions. 2.Surgical treatment: If the diagnosis is clear and the non-surgical treatment is ineffective or if there is spinal cord compression, surgery should be performed.
