Postoperative management of nasal endoscopy

Many patients report that the first few days after nasal endoscopy are very uncomfortable, with pain and swelling, and they often cannot sleep at night. However, the short period of uncomfortable will be exchanged for long-lasting comfort in the future, so it is important to endure the uncomfortable period. So how do you get through this difficult time? What do you need to pay attention to? Here is a list for you. How to spend 72 hours with the stuffing ① The purpose of the stuffing is to stop bleeding by pressure and promote wound healing. However, the stuffing can also compress the rich nerve endings in the nasal cavity and cause pain. The stuffing is usually removed 24~72 hours after surgery, and the pain symptoms will improve after removal. ②Ice packs on the forehead for 6 hours immediately after surgery are helpful to relieve headache and reduce bleeding. ③Do not pull out the stuffing by yourself, otherwise it may damage the mucosa and cause bleeding, which is not conducive to wound healing. Try to avoid violent coughing, sneezing, nose blowing, hot water washing, etc., which may cause nasal bleeding; ④The doctor will consider using painkillers and sedatives if necessary; ⑤It is normal to have a blocked feeling in the nose 1~2 weeks after removing the stuffing, do not blow your nose hard for this reason; ⑥There will be bloody discharge within 20 minutes after just removing the stuffing. A few days after surgery, there may be nasal bleeding, the patient can stand upright, lift the head, pinch the nose for 10 minutes, basically can stop the bleeding, if it can’t stop, we should go to the hospital in time. Postoperative light diet Drink more water ① fasting and water fasting for 6 hours after general anesthesia surgery to prevent asphyxia caused by vomiting; ② semi-liquid diet (such as thin rice, milk, milk powder, soup noodles, etc.) is recommended after local anesthesia surgery and 6 hours after general anesthesia wakefulness, do not lie down, but semi-sitting; (semi-sitting posture) ③ change to normal diet after nasal stuffing removal, but avoid spicy and stimulating food. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash before and after eating to maintain oral hygiene; ④ It is easy to have dry mouth during nasal stuffing, so it is advisable to drink warm water several times in small amount; postoperative fever does not exceed 38.5° without nervousness Postoperative patients may have fever, but as long as it does not exceed 38.5℃, it is a postoperative absorption fever (fever is caused by the absorption of sterile necrotic material), which is normal, without nervousness, and you can drink more water. However, if it exceeds 38.5℃, it is necessary to go to the hospital to find out the cause and determine if it is an infection or other problems.
