The value and direction of radiation therapy

What is radiation therapy? Radiation therapy (radiotherapy) is a treatment method to kill tumor or control tumor by destroying cell structure and cell activity through the ionizing radiation effect of rays. The status of radiotherapy in tumor treatment Malignant tumors have surpassed cardiovascular diseases as the number one cause of human death worldwide. Surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the traditional methods of tumor treatment and are still the three major means of tumor treatment. The World Health Organization reports that: 1. More than 70% of tumor patients need to receive radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is a safe, effective and important means of tumor treatment. 2.In 45% of clinically curable malignant tumors, the contribution of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy is 49%, 40% and 11% respectively. Comparison of common radiotherapy equipment and technology 1.Cobalt 60 radiotherapy machine – traditional radiotherapy: large field, small single dose, heavy damage to normal tissues and many complications. 2.Linear gas pedal – 3D conformal and intensity modulation radiotherapy: can conformal and intensity modulation, but the single dose is small and cannot be tracked in real time. 3.Gamma knife therapy – stereotactic radiotherapy: precise, large single dose, but need to install fixed frame, blind area and can not be tracked in real time. 4.Stereotactic radiotherapy with radio wave knife: image guidance, real-time tracking, automatic correction, computer-controlled radiotherapy, more precise, more beams, larger single dose, stronger tumor killing power and less damage to normal tissue.
