The effectiveness of treatment for ear infections depends on the location and extent of the infection, the toxicity of the source, the patient’s condition and whether treatment is timely and appropriate. Generally speaking, most ear infections can be cured with standard treatment and recover well without affecting hearing; however, some patients may suffer from hearing damage due to extensive inflammation, damage to the vagus and auditory nerve, poor immunity, underlying illnesses such as diabetes, strong toxicity of the infectious agent, or unregulated or untimely treatment. This can even lead to the spread of the infection, leading to intracranial infection and life-threatening.
