Ear infections during breastfeeding should be treated aggressively with topical cleaning or the use of ear drops. There is usually no need to worry about the medication being ingested by the baby through breast milk and affecting the baby’s development. Topical anti-microbial treatment will be administered first. When local treatment is not effective, oral or intravenous medication can be given.
