According to incomplete statistics, the number of people dying from esophageal cancer in China is increasing year by year, many patients are suffering from esophagitis in the early stage, but they did not get timely treatment, so they turned from esophagitis to esophageal cancer directly. Although esophageal cancer can be cured in the early stage, the recurrence rate is very high and the mortality rate is also very high, so we should seek medical examination in time when we are examined for esophagitis to avoid further deterioration.
Clinical manifestations
Heartburn, painful swallowing, difficulty in swallowing and pain behind the sternum are the main symptoms. When esophagitis is severe, it can cause esophageal spasm and esophageal stricture, which can lead to “gagging” and even vomiting when swallowing food. Bleeding from esophagitis is usually mild, but it can also cause vomiting of blood or black stools (tarry stools). Esophagitis of different etiologies can be accompanied by corresponding clinical manifestations.
1.Septic esophagitis
The esophageal mucosa is broken and purulent bacteria invade the esophageal mucosa causing purulent inflammation, often accompanied by neck pain, sore throat, and in a few cases, dysphagia, retrosternal pain, chills, fever, and other symptoms.
2, fungal esophagitis
The clinical symptoms of fungal esophagitis are not obvious, sometimes or no symptoms, often manifested bit swallowing pain, swallowing difficulties, epigastric discomfort or a burning sensation.
3, viral esophagitis
Viral esophagitis, often accompanied by nasolabial herpes, manifested as painful swallowing, swallowing food esophagus down slowly.
4, radioactive esophagitis
The esophageal injury caused by radiation, the general symptoms are relatively mild, severe symptoms will be severe chest pain, fever, choking, breathing difficulties, vomiting, etc.
5, superficial exfoliative esophagitis
Superficial exfoliative esophagitis is also called idiopathic esophageal mucosal exfoliation, patients will suddenly feel vague discomfort in the upper abdomen, often with mild dysphagia or belching. There is a burning sensation in the throat or vomiting of blood when drinking hot drinks or hot wine.
6. Acute corrosive esophagitis
This condition is relatively rare, and is usually caused by the accidental ingestion of corrosive food by children, resulting in damage to the esophageal mucosa and causing inflammation of the esophagus.
Treatment
According to the different causes, choose the corresponding treatment principles
1.Remove the cause of the disease.
2.Gastric acid inhibitors and mucosal protective agents.
3.Give antibiotics (bacterial, fungal) or antiviral drugs when there is co-infection.
4.Give hemostatic (including endoscopic) treatment when there is bleeding.
5. Consider endoscopic dilation and stent placement when symptoms of stenosis and obstruction are present.
