The most appropriate time for breast cancer self-examination is 7 to 14 days after each menstrual period, and for women entering menopause, self-examine your breasts once a month on the first day of each month or on a self-imposed date. Regular self-examinations will familiarize you with the normal state of your breasts, so you will be able to detect any changes in them more easily. Step 1: Look in the mirror with your arms crossed and observe the shape and contour of both breasts for symmetry and any abnormalities (skin color, indentations, folds, nipple inversion, etc.). Step 2: Raise your arms and observe the shape, skin, nipples and contour of both breasts for any abnormalities (skin color, presence of depressions and folds, whether the nipples are sunken in, etc.). Step 3: Lie on your back, put your fingers flat on the breast and press lightly, check the breast from the outside to the nipple one by one circle for lumps, put the arm on the side of the body to check once, press it on the back of the head and check again, check the opposite side in the same way, try to cover all areas. Step 4: Cross-check the caudal lobe and armpit of both sides of the breast: lie down with your shoulders slightly padded, raise your right arm and touch the opposite side of the armpit and caudal lobe of the breast with your hand for any lumps. Lie on your side and check again according to the previous method. Step 5: Squeeze the nipple with the thumb and index finger to check for fluid flow. If you find bilateral breast asymmetry; breast lumps or nodules, or harder texture than before, lamellar changes, and not related to menstruation; breast skin phenomena such as edema, sunken, not smooth; nipple overflow, sunken; “eczema-like” changes in the areola area, etc., you should go to the hospital for consultation. Note: Touch the breast with your fingers in a small, overlapping area. Make sure to examine the entire breast. The examination should be done in a calm manner, following a certain pattern, such as a circular, marginal or linear pattern.
