If breast cancer has spread, the survival time varies from six months to one year, or even less than six months for some patients; if timely and effective treatment is received, some patients can survive for more than one year. The metastasis and spread of breast cancer include lymphatic metastasis and hematogenous metastasis. The most common organs that metastasize bloodstream are liver, lung tissue, skull and brain, and vertebrae. Breast cancer patients with distant metastases are not suitable for surgery, but the pathological type can be defined and systemic intravenous chemotherapy can be chosen to control the development of tumor and reduce the patient’s pain to a certain extent. In case of secondary symptoms in the metastatic organs, symptomatic treatment, including treatment of pleural and abdominal effusion, targeted anti-infective treatment or intracavitary infusion chemotherapy, can also prolong the survival time of patients.
