Introduction to Acupuncture

Based on the small needle knife therapy invented by Professor Zhu Hanzhang in 1976, acupuncture therapy is a new medical therapy with independent intellectual property rights created by the dedicated research and painstaking exploration of our medical experts represented by Professor Zhu Hanzhang. After more than 30 years of development, acupuncture has become a mature and effective unique method for treating chronic soft tissue diseases, and its theoretical system has become increasingly mature. In 2003, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine held a “hearing and appraisal meeting on acupuncture and knife therapy” in Beijing, and the expert committee attending the hearing and appraisal meeting consisted of 29 experts from 27 tertiary hospitals across China, including many academicians. After a comprehensive review, the expert committee concluded that: acupuncture medicine as a new discipline has matured, and recommended the organization of promotion. The expert committee believes that: acupuncture is innovative in terms of acupuncture tools, minimally invasive closed surgical methods, theories of chronic soft tissue injury due to dynamic balance imbalance and osteophytes due to force balance imbalance, a relatively complete treatment specification and operation protocol, and satisfactory curative effects. Acupuncture therapy uses the acupuncture knife as a tool to treat diseases through specific operation methods under the guidance of the acupuncture knife theory (the theory of closed surgery with acupuncture knife, the theory of dynamic balance imbalance of chronic soft tissue injury, the theory of force balance imbalance of osteophytes, the theory of etiology of spinal zone, etc.). Acupuncture and knife therapy originated from Chinese medicine acupuncture, absorbing the essence of Chinese medicine acupuncture and moxibustion, and at the same time integrating modern anatomy, pathology, surgery and biomechanics research results. Therefore, acupuncture is the product of the combination of Chinese and Western medicine. The needle knife is divided into 14 types and 39 kinds according to the length and thickness of the needle body and the needle blade. The needle knife commonly used in clinical treatment is Type 1, No. 3 or No. 4 flush needle knife, whose needle body diameter is only 0.5-1mm thick, and will not leave any wound or scar on the body surface after treatment. Needle knife treatment not only has the advantages of acupuncture therapy with little tissue damage, but also can loosen adhesions, contractures and cut scars, with the characteristics of surgical operation. Acupuncture therapy is mainly applied to various chronic soft tissue injuries caused by intractable pain, osteophytes, bone and joint diseases, spine related diseases, peripheral nerve entrapment (dermal nerve entrapment), etc. such as cervical spondylosis, cervicogenic headache, lumbar muscle strain, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar vertebral osteophytes, sciatica, pear-shaped muscle syndrome, third lumbar transverse process syndrome, knee osteoarthritis, infrapatellar fat pad inflammation, frozen shoulder, tenosynovitis, tendon sheath cyst, fasciitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, heel pain, Achilles tendonitis, bunion, etc.; cumulative injury to muscles, tendons and ligaments, muscle tension, sequelae of injury. Some intra-articular fractures and fracture deformity healing; linear scar contracture and other ligament injuries and other diseases.
