Alcohol dependence is the abbreviation of “alcohol dependence syndrome”, which is caused by a strong psychological craving for alcohol (psychological dependence) and a series of physiological and biochemical changes (physical dependence) after long-term drinking, which can occur continuously or periodically. The degree of alcohol dependence varies and depends on many factors, such as the amount of alcohol consumed, the type of alcohol, the time and manner of drinking, race and individual quality. The behavioral manifestations of alcohol dependence can be quickly identified as follows: (1) Drinking alcohol is considered the most important or very important thing in life, and other interests and hobbies are reduced due to alcohol consumption; (2) The amount of alcohol consumption gradually increases; (3) The speed of alcohol consumption increases, especially at the beginning of several drinks; (4) Drinking alcohol alone often, and drinking by oneself; (5) Using alcohol as medicine, and using alcohol to relieve emotional distress; (6) (7) often forgetting things after drinking; (8) drinking in the morning or before going to bed, using alcohol to help you sleep; (9) often quarreling with family members (especially spouses) because of alcohol consumption; (10) having quit drinking, but relapsing soon afterwards. If you have more than 2 of the above symptoms, you are highly suspected of alcohol dependence and it is recommended to go to a specialized hospital for consultation.
