How is aortic coarctation surgery done?

Aortic coarctation is divided into traditional surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Nowadays, traditional surgery is basically not done, because with the improvement of minimally invasive techniques, it can completely replace traditional surgery. A small 1.5 cm opening is pierced through the root of the thigh, and through the stent introduction device, the overlapping stent is placed in the location where there is a breach in the thoracic aorta. The stent is like a spring, compressed together by the so-called shell, and after positioning, only the shell needs to be removed, and after the shell is removed the stent will automatically pop open and adhere to the wall of the thoracic aorta. If the diameter of the thoracic aorta is 20 mm, the stent chosen for the thoracic aorta will be about 25 mm or even about 22-23 mm. After the stent is in place, the stent will expand locally and fit together with the vessel to achieve the purpose of sealing the breach and achieving the therapeutic effect. This procedure takes about half an hour to one hour for a mature vascular surgeon to complete.
