Maximum years of life for malignant brain tumors

The survival period of brain malignant tumor patients is related to the tumor type, malignancy degree, treatment method, the presence of comorbidities and other factors, which need to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. The survival of brain malignant tumor patients is affected by many factors, such as the large size of intracranial tumor, which may lead to severe intracranial pressure increase, cerebral edema, or even brain herniation, and may only survive for a few days or 1-2 weeks. In addition, the treatment measures taken after diagnosis may also affect the survival period. For example, the average survival period of patients with glioblastoma without any treatment may be less than 3 months; for intracranial metastatic melanoma, the average survival period after diagnosis does not exceed 6 months. If reasonable and effective treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy are taken in time, the survival of patients will be significantly prolonged, for example, there are reports that chordoma of the brain survived for nearly 30 years, but of course, there are certain individual differences. After the diagnosis of brain malignant tumor, it is important to consult neurosurgery or oncology in time to cooperate with doctors for effective treatment to avoid delaying the treatment time, and to extend the survival period and improve the quality of life to some extent.
