If the patient currently has high low pressure, which means high diastolic blood pressure, it is recommended that the patient eat foods that are low in salt, fat, calories and cholesterol to help lower the patient’s diastolic blood pressure. Foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, dates, bananas, potatoes, eggplant, lettuce, spinach, cilantro, broccoli, celery, and parsley, all help to lower the patient’s blood pressure. Fruits that are often eaten include apples and pears, as well as kiwi, dragon fruit and mangosteen, all of which are beneficial in improving the patient’s blood pressure. Patients are advised not to eat smoked, pickled, or fried junk food during the day, as these high-salt, high-oil foods can cause patients’ blood pressure to rise, as well as animal offal and alcoholic products, which are also not recommended.
