Do you need to pick off the granules on your nipples?

Granular stuff on the nipples should not be picked off, but treated according to its specific etiology. If it is only a granular substance on the nipple, without accompanying symptoms such as pain, it is usually a physiological phenomenon and is related to the formation of crusts from the secretions of the milk ducts. During breastfeeding, in the case of first-time mothers, when the baby is sucking on the breast for the first time, the ducts are not open and a blockage has occurred, causing smaller blisters to appear in the breast with a small granular appearance. Another situation is for non-lactating women, where there are more cystic glands in the nipples, such as poor breast hygiene or often wearing tight underwear, which leads to blockage of the follicles and can also result in small granules on the nipples, which can be accompanied by pain, redness and swelling. In addition, breast eczema may also lead to this condition. Women should maintain a good mood in general, pay attention to breast hygiene and dryness, and once abnormalities occur, they should seek medical attention from the breast surgery department for targeted treatment.
