When can TB patients return to work?

Since the application of effective anti-tuberculosis drugs, rest and hospitalization for TB patients no longer play an important role. In determining whether a patient can return to work, the following conditions are available for reference. 1. After 3-6 months of active treatment for severe active tuberculosis, patients can return to work when symptoms disappear, sputum becomes negative, cavities are closed and lesions are better absorbed. There should be a period of adaptation before resuming work, and light work or half-day work can be done during the adaptation period for 3-6 months; if the disease continues to improve, weakness and fatigue disappear, full-day work can be done. 2.It is not possible to resume work when the sputum bacterium continues to be positive and the condition does not improve. 3, although the sputum bacteria negative, but the lung lesions do not significantly progress or even expand should not return to work. 4.Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis accompanied by bone tuberculosis should return to work until the bone lesions are completely healed, otherwise pathological fractures are likely to occur. 5, for patients with mild tuberculosis, they can take medication and treatment at the same time, and do not need to rest, but need to pay attention to avoid strain and increase nutrition. Heavy physical work can be reduced or not to work at night. 6.The return to work of teachers, salespersons and caregivers should be strictly controlled, or transferred to another job.
