Gastroenteritis does not require anti-inflammatory drugs unless there is a bacterial infection that requires anti-inflammatory drugs. There are many clinical causes of gastroenteritis, such as bacterial, viral and fungal infections, exposure to cold, unclean diet and other gastrointestinal diseases, which may lead to gastroenteritis. For patients with gastroenteritis, basic treatment includes rehydration to correct water-electrolyte disturbances, acid-suppressing and stomach-protecting medications, and antidiarrheal medications. If the diarrhea is severe and dehydration is evident, intravenous rehydration with vitamins, fatty milk, potassium, sodium, etc. is required. If necessary, antidiarrheal medications such as montelukast and bifidobacterium will be given.
