Is it better to take Chinese or Western medicine for cough?

Many people do not know whether to take Chinese medicine or Western medicine for coughing. The following personal experience of a patient verifies that coughing is more effective with Chinese medicine. I had a cough for several days, and initially I endured it for two days, thinking that it would slowly get better on its own, but it failed, and every day I coughed so much that my head hurt, especially at night, and I basically had to cough for an hour to fall asleep. It was really sad. Although I work in a hospital, I don’t want to take medicine because it’s usually too much trouble. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I went to the health department and was prescribed some anti-inflammatory drugs, which I ate for two days, but had little effect. Finally, I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I drew up a Chinese herbal prescription and ate it in the afternoon, and the cough stopped that night. This time, the cough was more likely to be caused by a virus, so the Chinese herbal medicine cleared the heat and detoxified the toxins, regulated the qi, and lifted the medicine.
