After the “Triple A”, another good news came to our hospital, the new hospital building was finally completed after several years of joint efforts. As one of the key departments of the hospital —- Endoscopy Center, the hospital leaders have paid special attention to the site selection, preparation and hardware equipment, aiming to build the most advanced endoscopy center in China and bring the gospel of endoscopy treatment to the people of Panyu. The Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center of Guangzhou Panyu Hospital is a comprehensive treatment institution that carries out electronic gastroscopy, duodenoscopy, nasopharyngoscopy, fibrinoscopy, ultrasound endoscopy and related treatment items. The general requirements of the design are: 1. the functional areas should be complete; 2. the flow of people and goods should be reasonable; 3. each area should be ventilated and light-transmitting as much as possible, and the materials used should be easy to clean and disinfect. The service group is mainly outpatients, and the site is chosen as the closest to the outpatient clinic. Since patients receiving endoscopy treatment are weak due to fasting or having done intestinal cleansing the day before, and should avoid long elevator waits, we chose the second floor closest to the outpatient clinic. The existing endoscopy room receives 6,000 visits per year and is expected to exceed 7,000 visits/year in the next five years. The new endoscopy center covers an area of 777 square meters, with an overall distribution of patient access, medical access and endoscopy consultation rooms. The patient access, i.e. the part where patients enter the endoscopy center to receive treatment, includes the appointment office, registration and triage office, waiting area, and anesthesia resuscitation room. The waiting area for appointment is about 67 square meters. To reduce the anxiety and agitation of patients and their families, we will equip air-conditioning, TV sets and newspapers and magazines to reflect the humanistic culture. Health promotion materials related to endoscopy are posted on the wall for patients to understand the significance of endoscopy and precautions. The number of painless endoscopy in our hospital is the first in the region, now reaching more than 5000 cases/year. The anesthesia resuscitation room occupies an important position in the construction of our department, which is a place for rest, observation, resuscitation and rescue of patients for a short period of time after surgery, covering an area of about 51 square meters, with 6 beds and equipped with central oxygen, suction and cardiac monitor in front of each bed. The endoscopy consultation room is the main part of the whole endoscopy center. There are two electronic gastroscopy rooms, two electronic colonoscopy rooms, one ERCP room, one nasopharyngoscopy room and one fibrinoscopy room in our department. Except for the ERCP room, each room covers an area of about 24 square meters, with the endoscope mainframe and examination bed placed in the middle of each room, and the wall designed with cabinets for accessories, wall suction and oxygen. The doctor’s desk is placed on one side of the wall, with various terminals for documentation and image acquisition and a printer. The colonoscopy room is specially equipped with a toilet and an enema room. The endoscopy room is equipped with at least one emergency vehicle with all kinds of emergency drugs and equipment, and the ERCP room covers an area of about 55 square meters, divided into two areas: the operation area of 30 square meters and the control area of 22 square meters. The operation area needs to place X-ray machine, endoscope mainframe and reserve cabinet for ERCP accessories, which must be designed to isolate X-rays. The control area is the area where the X-ray machine is controlled, endoscopic images are collected and physicians discuss, and where there are various terminals to facilitate medical staff to observe the process of endoscopic treatment through the terminals. The endoscopes and some of their accessories are used repeatedly, and cleaning and disinfection are especially important. The endoscope cleaning and disinfection storage room is about 54 square meters, divided into functional areas divided into clean and contaminated areas, making full use of space, keeping it neat, spacious and well ventilated for easy work. In accordance with the State Ministry of Health recommendations to use professional endoscope cleaning and disinfection machine, but each endoscope will also be equipped with a special set of cleaning sink. In addition, various endoscope cleaning facilities will be equipped, such as: high-pressure water and air guns, ultrasonic oscillators, leak detection devices, endoscope blowing and drying machines 。。。。。。 The storage of endoscopes after disinfection is related to the next use of health and its working life, the endoscopy center will be equipped with a multi-functional endoscope storage room, which has a number of better sealed instrument cabinets to store endoscopes and auxiliary instruments, hanging mirror cabinet with multi-layer hanging shelves, endoscope storage must be suspended, the top of the cabinet is equipped with ultraviolet disinfection lamp, the bottom is set with desiccant storage work area. The functional division of the endoscopy center also has a data storage room, all kinds of data management, easy access and and summary. The multimedia demonstration classroom is set up for real-time broadcasting of endoscopic images and operations, which is used as a place for endoscopic technology exchange and observation of various new endoscopic technology study classes with a large number of people. A good horse needs a good saddle, and the endoscopy center has the most advanced technology in our region, and will also have the most advanced, scientific and reasonable hardware facilities.
