Watch out for cervicogenic visual impairment

When you have the following symptoms, please note that it may be caused by cervical spondylosis: 1. Paroxysmal blindness: Patients mostly suddenly become blind or have reduced vision when they turn around and other cervical vertebrae, often recovering within ten seconds to a few minutes. 2. Paroxysmal diplopia: Patients have double vision (double shadow) in both eyes, while monocular vision is often reduced or disappears. 3, paroxysmal visual weakness, blurred vision, visual field defects, eye flicker, or flying mosquitoes; 4, pseudomyopia; 5, the corresponding clinical symptoms of cervical spondylosis: such as neck stiffness, neck pain, scapular back pain, pain and numbness in the upper limbs; Visual impairment is a common disease in ophthalmology, when patients with paroxysmal transient blindness, paroxysmal diplopia, or visual weakness, blurred vision, visual field defects, eye flicker and other symptoms mainly complaints When the patient comes to the clinic, the doctor should first conduct an ophthalmologic examination, and if possible, further intracranial CT or MRI examination should be done to clarify whether the patient has ophthalmologic or intracranial diseases. When ruled out, further physical examination of the cervical spine and imaging examination of the cervical spine should be done. If the patient’s physical examination and imaging examination meet the conditions of cervical visual impairment, the diagnosis of cervicogenic visual impairment can be made. Cervicogenic visual impairment is a clinical disease with blurred vision, diplopia, visual field defects, mosquito flying disorder and other visual impairment as the main clinical manifestations due to abnormal anatomical position/anatomical structure of the cervical spine, cervical medulla and diseases of the tissues surrounding the cervical spine, which is related to the vegetative nerve dysfunction caused by cervical spondylosis. About 80%-95% of patients are accompanied by cervical dizziness and lightheadedness; most are accompanied by cervical spondylosis symptoms, and almost all patients have different degrees of cervical spondylosis symptoms and signs as long as they are carefully questioned in the medical history and examination. People generally think that cervical spondylosis is nothing more than neck and back pain. It is not known that the cervical vertebrae are attached to the skull and the trunk, and the neurovascular system is densely intertwined, so it is an important part of the human nervous system and a necessary route for cerebrospinal fluid circulation. Once the disease occurs, it will definitely affect the blood vessels and nerves, resulting in various cervicogenic diseases, which can be said to involve a hair and move the whole body. Cervicogenic visual impairment is characterized by a significant relationship between visual impairment and neck posture, when the head is in a particular posture, visual impairment and cervical spondylosis symptoms aggravated, many patients show the most obvious morning eye discomfort, its cause is related to plant nerve dysfunction and inadequate blood supply to the basilar artery, ophthalmic examination is mostly abnormal, according to the treatment of cervical spondylosis, can receive good results.
