What are the post-operative treatment options for ACL reconstruction?

  I. Muscle strength (1, 2, 3 shall start immediately after the anesthesia subsides after surgery and continue training for 8 weeks to prevent blood clots and muscle atrophy)
  1. Ankle pump exercises: hook your toes upward with maximum force for 5 seconds and then step downward for 5 seconds, a total of 500-1000 times a day. Very important! Prevent blood clots!
2, quadriceps contraction: start immediately after surgery. Contract the anterior thigh muscles with force for 5 seconds and then relax for 2 seconds, 500 times a day.
3, N rope muscle contraction: knee fully straightened and force down the pillow under the foot, for 5 seconds, relax for 2 seconds, a total of 500 times a day.
  4. Straight leg lift exercise: completed within 3 days after surgery. Knee joint fully straightened and lifted 15° from the bed, a total of 30 times a day, each time until exhaustion.
  5. Static squat exercises: zigzag stance, start 10 weeks after surgery, practice at a painless angle, pay attention to the knee joint not to exceed the toes, and last 1~2 minutes each time.
  II. Adjustment of joint mobility
  1. Knee extension exercises: start on the 1st postoperative day. Perform 2 times a day in the afternoon. Continue for 1 month.
  (1) Exercise method: Pillow on the heel of the foot, hollow out under the knee joint, muscles completely relaxed, for 20 minutes. The soreness and swelling on the back side of the knee is normal.
  (2) Some patients who already have difficulty extending the knee before surgery should add 2~3kg of weight above the knee joint on top of the above.
2.Knee flexion exercise: calculation of knee angle: the angle between the extension line of the thigh and the calf.
  (1) Brace adjustment: 3 days after surgery, the knee brace should be kept in full extension, and it can be adjusted to 30° in the first week after surgery, 50° in the second week after surgery, and the knee can be flexed to 70° in 3 weeks after surgery, and to 90° in 4 weeks after surgery, and it increases about 10° (1 frame) every week thereafter, and the knee brace needs to be worn for 12 weeks.
  (2) Flexion of the knee 4 weeks postoperatively: active knee flexion is not allowed 4 weeks postoperatively, passive knee flexion methods right 90° within sitting leg drop, 90~105° sitting on top of the wall, 100° above sitting leg hold, supine leg drop.
  (3) Violent active knee extension (such as kicking and shooting action) and deep squatting should be prohibited for 4 weeks after surgery.
  III. Walking
  1. Patients with simple ACL reconstruction can walk with weight on the second postoperative day (i.e., the affected limb can step on the ground) to meet simple daily life.
2, combined with cartilage injury, meniscectomy or suture of the patient’s weight-bearing walking delayed as appropriate, 2 weeks after surgery can be crutches to help walking, surgery side of the limb gradually resume weight-bearing, 4 weeks after surgery completely weight-bearing and normal symmetrical force walking.
  IV. Exercise
1.About 3 months after surgery, you can squat and ride a bicycle
2.Start jogging and swimming (breaststroke is prohibited) 6 months after surgery
3.1~1.5 years can be exercised according to the actual situation
4.Strenuous sports (such as soccer, basketball, badminton, tennis, etc.) should pay attention to adequate preparatory exercises and wearing protective gear before
