What is the true meaning of health?

Through more than half a century of continuous study, exploration and practice, I have come to realize that health is not only the absence of disease and pain. To obtain true, complete and perfect health, one should live in harmony with nature, with society, with family, and with mind and body. Of course, this harmony is not a peacemaker who is “good” at everything, but a harmonious and unified relationship in mutual communication, mutual exchange, mutual promotion and mutual restraint. Only when we have achieved such “four harmonies” can we live in a state of great health that is physically and mentally healthy and auspicious. If the environment is polluted, ecological imbalance, floods and droughts, wind and rain, “four pests” are rampant, and epidemics will be prevalent, how can we talk about health? If the war is endless, social unrest, corrupt officials, arbitrary levies, smash and grab, will be the people do not live, and that can talk about health? If husband and wife do not get along, elders are not kind, children are not filial, brothers are not benevolent, six relatives do not recognize, so that people are constantly consumed, exhausted, then we can still talk about health? If a person is narrow-minded, sentimental, temperamental, alcoholic, pornography, gambling, night and day, and self-harm for years, how can we talk about health? The characteristics of a perfectly healthy person are: civilized demeanor, comfortable body posture, clear thinking, eyes, moist skin, radiance, peace of mind, diet, regular living, bowel movement, and energy. The four diagnoses in Chinese medicine and the physical examination in Western medicine are all intact and do not show abnormal performance. However, every day we have to accept the essence and dross from nature, society, family, and many aspects of the body. Therefore, we must persistently and constantly take in the old and take in the new, taking in the essence and removing the dross, so that the organism can obtain perfect health in the end through constant intermingling and integration. It is too difficult to bring the body to such a high standard! So is there any good way to do a good job of taking in the old and bringing in the new?
