Axillary ringworm is only a superficial infection of the hair cuticle and can usually be cured spontaneously by shaving the axillary or pubic hair, paying daily attention to underarm hygiene, changing clothes and bathing regularly in summer and keeping the armpits dry.
However, some patients may need oral medication to fight the infection, together with topical medication to heal.
